Blue Bird Corporation, one of the world's leading school bus manufacturers built Blue Bird No. 1, its first school bus in 1927. The body was made of wood and it was painted, no surprise, “school bus yellow” and black. Twelve years later, this colour scheme was officially adopted as the colour for all school buses in the United States and Canada. It remains so to this day.
